欢乐城 (Huanle Cheng), or Happy City, is the closest shopping centre to the JLU campus and it's one you'll mostly visit during your stay in the area should you decide to join the university. Just like the above mentioned places, this one is also full of shops and restaurants. It also has a cinema and gym that by the way is the most popular choice of JLU students, however in my opinion you should avoid it if you're kinda serious about exercising.
Address: 1889 Qianjin Street
Opening Hours: 09:30-21:30 everyday, except the cinema (open till late)
This is also a relatively new place. In fact, when I arrived this shopping centre wasn't even open. It's a great place to go for shopping and killing some time. It's got an awesome cinema and a pretty decent gym, too. Due to its location Happy City is one of the most popular choices for JLU students.

This place is located on the 7th floor, directly above the cinemas. To tell you the truth, Mr. Power is where I'm currently working out and is also the place I can't wait to leave. Although it's a nice looking gym, their management team clearly has no idea what they're doing. They keep moving things around with most ending up in the VIP section, which you as a regular membership holder won't be able to use. In a nutshell, if you're pretty serious about working out then you may be left frustrated

When it comes to buying, selling and fixing your gadgets the only place to go is Bainao Hui (百脑汇). There's virtually nothing that you couldn't get sorted. They also have a used items' section for game consoles, which can be handy if you're looking for a cheaper deal. Be careful and inspect everything well as you may be sold a legit looking, yet fake product. Tip of the day: take a local friend and get them do the talking.

Changchun has some cool places to go for shopping & eating and I have no doubt that each and everyone of you will find just what you're looking for. In this section I have selected some of the best places to go in town, so hopefully you'll be able to start burning that dough as soon as you get here.
This is a brand new shopping centre right across the street from Bainao Hui. Ouya Lehuoli (欧亚乐活里) is different as it's filled with foreign brands and food. This place is also massive on virtual reality (VR) games. Amongst others, you'll find an Italian gelato stand and an authentic pizzeria, a Japanese fusion restaurant and a Kiwi steak van.
Address: 1368 Gongnong Road
Opening Hours: 09:00-21:00 everyday

This place is awesome and for RMB25/scoop it's not too expensive either.

This shopping centre is a popular one with a good selection of shops and restaurants. Wanda Plaza (万达广场) has several sites in Changchun and based on your location you may go to whichever. Coming from the university however the most convenient certainly is the one on Hongqi Street. This place is also very close to the ones above, so you should be spoilt for choices if you decided to spend some cash around this area. Although the main shopping area closes at 22:00, the cinema remains open till late.
Address: 616 Hongqi Street
Opening Hours: 10:00-22:00 everyday, except the cinema (open till late)
Still one of the best places to go despite the opening of Changchun's newest. Wanda has everything you need, including some shops I'm yet to see elsewhere.
This is something relatively new. A few months ago skaters started popping up and they've never left. I personally believe that it's something super cool and adds to the overall atmosphere of Wanda.
For a while this was my preferred destination for movies. It's a decent cinema and often has a greater selection of movies than other cinemas in the area.

IMAX At Hongqi Wanda Plaza
This place is brand new and in my opinion also by far the best place to go for food, shopping, learning and killing some time. New Life Ouya (欧亚新生活购物广场) is perfectly located connecting 3 of Changchun's busiest locations that is Guilin Road, Nanhu Park and Hongqi Street. This place has something for everyone with tons of shops, cinema, kids' area and a Harry Potter-looking art section.
Address: 99 Yanan Street
Opening Hours: 09:30-21:30 everyday, except the cinema (open till late)
This is Changchun's newest and in my opinion best shopping centre.
This is Changchun's newest and in my opinion best shopping centre.
As you might have noticed I really appreciate nice places. This new shopping centre is certainly one of the coolest looking I've ever visited. It's just massive and I find the general layout pretty unique.

Happy City
新城吾悦广场 (Xincheng Wuyue Guangchang), or InJoy is another new development and it's huge. To me this place feels like Wanda with the only difference that is much bigger. This place is pretty far from the university, but can be a cool spot for people that want to explore different areas of the city. There's a super cool Tea House here with an even cooler chilling environment should you want to relax a bit.
Address: Corner of Haoyue Road & Zhengyang Street
Opening Hours: 09:30-21:30 everyday, except the cinema (open till late)
Although this place is slightly out of the way, it's an awesome one to head to if you're after something new. Changchun Park is also right across the street, so you could easily spend half a day in the area. I found InJoy's overall vibe very similar to that of Hongqi Wanda with the only differences coming from the size of this place and its more diverse selection of shops and restaurants.

Shopping Centres
Changchun is full of shopping centres, which may take some time to get used to. One thing is for sure, you're never too far from one.
Grocery Shopping
As a foreign person it is important to have a wider variety of products to choose from in the city. Lucky you! Changchun has some places that have great selections of foreign products.
